Back Pain, Neck Pain, & The Spine
Back Pain
Back pain is one of the most common orthopedic problems. Six out of 10 people suffer from lower back pain or upper back pain at some point in their lives. It can range from a dull, constant ache (chronic back pain) to a sudden, sharp sensation (acute back pain).
Neck Pain
Most people experience neck pain at some point in their lives. Neck pain can be acute, meaning it lasts a few hours to a few weeks, or it can be chronic - lasting several weeks or longer. Sometimes neck pain can signify something serious.
The Spine
Your spine is at the center of a delicately balanced system that controls all of your body’s movements. Bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves all work together to balance the weight of your body. Even minor damage to one component of your back’s structure can upset this fragile balance and make movement painful – necessitating treatment that may include spine surgery.
